Wild flowering plant
Category: Macro World
I've seen this plant @ the road side all over Karnataka. I saw them again in full bloom near a field en route Melkote from Mandya. A search in google didnt help me to find out the name of this plant / flower. Does anyone know?

The pic is taken with the Canon EF 180mm f/3.5L macro lens, set on a Manfrotto 728B digi tripod and timer triggered in Av mode, f/9, ISO-100 and partial metering for a 1/30s exposure.

Update: Preethu found out through Google that the name of this plant / flower is Scarlett Milkweed (with a scientific name Asclepias Curassavica)

Great picture !
It's Asclepias tuberosa, commonly known as Butterfly plant. Heard from my  Mom that it's also called "Cup & Saucer".
When I was a kid , I used to collect  butterfly larva underneath the leaves & place inside a matchbox along with some leaves. Within 2/3 days , beautiful butterflies comes out. It was really a wondefull experience.

Another beautiful macro. The colours and the shallow Dof are very attractive here! I think this flower is not common in Kerala?

Ripudaman: Thnx a lot and welcome here :)

Rajesh: Thnx Rajesh :)

Aarathi: I guess I've seen the butterfly plant/weed. This plant is very similar but another species from the same genus - Scarlett Milkweed or Asclepias Curassavica. Thnx to my dear wifey for finding it and WiKi articles / pictures confirms what she found. Thnx a lot for sharing ur experience here. Do return :)

Dinesh: :) I know that feeling. Lately, I'd been trying to remember the birds / plants / flowers I spot/shoot. Hope I'll start remembering at some point of time :)

Mohkum: I havent seen them in Kerala. Like Aarathi mentioned, in Kerala, I've seen its relative - the butterfly weed / Asclepias Tuberosa. [Wow! I sound geeky now ;-)]

Vera: Thnx for visiting and the nice words. In the previous pic, yes, I had it a li'l under-exposed :(

Mathew: I kind of travel in Blore - Mysore route on almost every alternative weekends :) Thats how close its to me :) Nice to see that its dear to u also :)
