Water Birds again ... from Mysuru road

I got the new Canon EF-L f/5.6 400mm lens today and had to try out the range as early as I can :) The following pics are from a paddy field near Maddur in Bengaluru - Mysuru road:

This being my first experience with a real tele photo lens, with a not so impressive maximum aperture (f/5.6) and no IS, I decided to play safe with ISO-400. The first two pics are 1/1000s @ f/5.6 and the last one is 1/640s for the same aperture. For the third pic, I tried out ISO-100 and had 1/250s and f/5.6.

I also got a 2X converter and tried it out, but didnt get any decent pictures @ f/11 (2X converter will make f/5.6 of 400mm lens to f/11), no Auto Focus (EOS400D cannot Auto Focus @ a max aperture of f/11) and no IS.

Their reflections is water are so lovely and that bluring effect to the greens adds uniqueness to that lone bird captured in solitude !

Few white birds with a little tinge of color, in rows
Sat musing.
San passed near that place-his musings secure.

A bird said, "What he thinks he can do?"
The other Said "We are not scared;will be here still"
They threw back their heads to laugh.

With quaint expressions
They regarded him.
They were very curious...

The birds in the first pic are in disagreement over a silly family matter ..:-)

The second one is enquiring the happenings on air to the grasshopper..:-)

The fourth and the one I loved the most…speaks for itself… melancholy shrouds… he is ditched by the good old Ladybird friend and so is pondering over what went wrong… ;-)
